- In all the upheaval of adolescence, you don't have to wonder if the angst will hit you. It's a question of when, and of how you'll hit back when it does. Like so many before them, the LA teens in Love Ghost turn to the timeless catharsis of garage rock. If that sounds reductive, it it's not meant to; take "Nowhere," a dispirited single that forges harmony out of chaos and contrast. That contrast begins on the arrangement level, where Mya Greene's viola weaves depth and nuance into Finn Bell's crushing grunge guitar and Ryan Stevens' bass. Between Samson Young's deliberate drums and a seemingly aimless melody, "Nowhere" captures an essential paradox of the teenage experience: the feeling of having no specific destination, and the imperative to get there yesterday. As Bell puts it, "withering in the wind, dreams to start again / a million miles away from this life / If I could find a path to nowhere." The video, directed by Dan Bell, harnesses the same duality. Pairing dramatic rooftop performance footage with Lena Bishop's colorful animated sequences, it's the visual equivalent of the track's Pixies-style dynamics.

- it ALSO has one of the best vids you'll see this year, especially if you love cartoons as much as I do. In what seems to be a collaborative effort, Finn's come up with the storyline you'll see and handed the concept to the uber-talented Davie Brown of Empirius Graphic and Motion Design who animated the video - and through their efforts to bring this vision to life, they've racked up hardware and awards like you wouldn't believe. Honestly. It'd take another separate review to list them all...from local film festivals to international ones - Love Ghost has again positioned themselves perfectly out there in the music-scene in ways that will get their music both noticed AND heard. For all you out there wondering what needs to be done to get some attention...believe me when I say taking a page out of the Love Ghost playbook will be to your benefit - they've put in the effort from all angles, audio-to-video, and applied an authentic, unshakeable focus. As far as Davie's concerned - this dude is all-aces...the video for "Girl Pusher" is pretty much every bit as badass as the song is...combined together, this single becomes a genuine force to be reckoned with. Love the way the movement of the video syncs up so incredibly well with the most significant transitions in the music's structure and flow - it's details like this that make all the difference.
- Teenage rock band Love Ghost has succeeded in creating a unique visual for their latest single "Parasitical Identity". The haunting video features stunningly dark stop-animation from Dave Long portraying split identity that often results from trauma of one's past. The story line by lead singer/songwriter Finn Bell highlights how anger can arise from such trauma and how this anger can become self destructive with the character in the video ultimately hurting himself as he punishes others The soundtrack to this poignant portrayal of psychosis features the band's signature mix of heavy rock coupled with grunge and garage rock elements. Bell's poetic vocals are set against clashing guitars and driving drums with melancholy dripped viola riffs draping the evocative soundscape. Since forming a couple years back, Love Ghost have found success opening for such high profile bands such as Smash Mouth, Berlin and the Young Dubliners. "Parasitical Identity' will be featured on their upcoming LP set for release later this summer.

- Underground uses some gorgeous animation to depict a cynical irony with powerful and constantly shifting visuals. Based solely on its ability to make something out of nothing, this is admittedly one of the most memorable music videos of the year...Love Ghost carries on their legacy of maintaining a deep rooted relevance with well thought- out music videos - Finnegan Bell on vocals, guitar and piano and Mya Greene on viola display rare virtuosity. The intense atmosphere of the imaginative, vibrant and thought provoking shots brings the haunting tone of the song to life. The stark yet simplistic animation style based largely on the wobbly movement of the symbolic figures fits the mood perfectly. The beauty of this approach is that it gets you to listen carefully to the lyrics. This is something that can be difficult to achieve with music videos, since the action distracts from the song itself.
- Love Ghost - is full of youth and rage. Earlier this year, they released a grungy dirge, but 9mm goes beyond that. The animation hits harder because of its boldness, complemented by the jarring and distorted score. The style is reminiscent of alt-animation cult classics like Waltz with the Bashir and April and the Extraordinary World. Capping at three minutes, the video also alternates between monochrome and colour to depict the grim reality, delusions and dreams of the shooter, who stands on the cusp of throwing his entire life away, and ending those of so many. For those scarred by the horrific memories and the rising recurrence of such incidents, the music video makes for a cathartic watch.
- Ghosts hijack a young man's motor functions. To stop the hauntings he must partner with an edgy young woman to cure a ghost's trauma. But a malicious spirit threatens to put an end to them all.
- Essentially, Love Ghost's video is a mini-movie, like something from the hand of Fritz Lang, the German expressionist. In short, the video is about the journey one takes to self-forgiveness. "Forgive Me" begins with a dark guitar riff, followed by the drums and then high haunting vocals as the melody is established. The melody is without qualm and advocates somber resolve and decisiveness, as it rides on the guitar. Bell's voice is very good and hard to describe. It's raw and raspy, with a metallic undertone that emanates suppressed energy. The overall feel of "Forgive Me' is an inarticulate cry of utter desolation as the young protagonist seeks self-forgiveness. There's a dark, crunching proximity to the song, as it examines the psychic parameters of elusive self-discovery that leads to forgiveness of self forgiveness.
- "East of Eden" meets "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer"- Love Ghost lets you delve into the psychotic state of a madman.
